Name: Vajjan
Age: 37 seasons
Gender: Male
Species: Scorpion
Marital Status: single
Occupation and Home: : The Terror of mossflower, Vajjan was born in the forests of Southsward
Strengths: : Vajjan is The ultimate ambush predator. His victims only know hes there if he wants them to know...or if hes not hungry. Obviously, his strengths lie in his massive claws. The other asset is that he was born with two tails. (two tails = two stingers)
Weaknesses: : Vajjan, like most scorpions is deathly afraid of light. This means, that he has to move in the cover of night. In addition, During the day he has to be inside shelter. (I.E tree cover, cave) Vajjan also has a deathly fear of water and fire.
Allignment: : Not BAD just....insane
Appearance: Vajjan is slightly smaller than skrabblag(the scorpion in mariel of redwall),. He is jet black from top to bottom, the only exception being the backside of his tails. For this reason, whenever he amushes a victim, he grabs the unfortunate with his claws then scuttles out backwards. Vajjan's claws, are of course, oversize like a normal scorpions's, and his tails are the length of his body.
Personality: Vajjan is a predator first and foremost. That is to say, he has to eat to survive. However, he is a BIT insane. If his hunger overtakes him enough, he would attack creatures bigger than himself. However, he has not yet managed to cornor something bigger than him in an ambush. If he HAD the opportunity he would TAKE it however. Vajjan (for reasons unknown...insanity perhaps?) will not ambush any group of creatures that is an odd number.
History: Vajjan was born the third of a brood of three in the dense forests of lower Southsward. His father was cannablized by his mother at an early age, such being the norm with scorpions. After, the death of her mate, Vajjans mother raised the scorplings on her own. In the brood, Vajjan easily stood out, for he had been born with two stinger-tails, the result of a gene malfulction on his fathers side. His two siblings, were also much smaller than him, by as much as half in size, but they were deadly all by themselves, for they much preferred to hunt in unison rather than by themselves.
One day near the end of his immaturity, Vajjan went out hunting, with his mother. The hunt was not so much a success, as it was a failure. Their intended target turned out to be a not one, but a sizable group of vermin, all well armed. Their leader a fox, realized that though the scorpions were fearsome, they were also heavily outnumbered. Thus he drove his gang after them, commanding them to capture one for his amusement. Vajjan fled as fast as he could to the nest, while his mother stayed behind to distract the vermin. When Vajjan reached the nest, he discovered the vermin had already found the nest, but the vermin were already dead and bloated. His two siblings, the scorpion pair, had ambushed them while they had run ahead, and were now feasting on the carcasses. Seeing their brother, they hissed and started advancing upon Vajjan, full of the blood lust as they were. Vajjan scuttled foward, and grabbed with his two claws, one claw from each. Then he plunged downward with his twin stingers like a madbeast.
Remembering that there were still vermin behind him, Vajjan stepped back from his siblings carcasses and turned to run for tree cover. Just then, a blinding light narrowly missed him from the side. Blinded as he was by the torch, Vajjan did not see the fox run a long rope around his midsection, then bring it over the top to form a loop. The vermin dragged him by the rope to their encampment, passing by on there way the broken and mangled body of Vajjans mother.
The fox had plans for Vajjan. He intended to try to break him and use him as a weapon. The fox whenver he went, would lead Vajjan on a rope halter at a distance out of reach of stingers and claws. At night, he would tie the rope to a tree and appoint gaurds to surround Vajjan, and poke him with their spears if he ever went too far away. In this manner, he thought escape was impossible for the scorpion.
As it happened however, when the vermin were sleeping, Vajjan was going through his final moult. The strain upon the rope proved too great, and due to the constant slicing of the rope with his claws(which earned a spearbutt everytime it as so attempted), had weakened the rope to the breaking point. With a clatter, the rope snapped loose and hit one of the gaurds. As the gaurd vermin went to raise the alarm, Vajjan broke his old exoskeleten to complete moulting. Realizing the vulnerable state he was in so soon after moulting, he fled into the woodlands.
The next night, his skin was hard as normal, and now that he had finished moulting, was larger than his mother had ever been.
The southlands, were dangerous now, and depleted of prey, besides. Why not go somewhere not so dangerous, where there was little to no competition for prey? Where the prey was abundant and there was less danger? The answer of course, was further north. Vajjan set off that night, to the warm lands of plenty in the north. He(of course) had to travel by cover of night over many areas, eventually reaching Mossflower wood after many seasons. He made permanant residence in Mossflower and to this day, is the only known scorpion on mossflower.
