Daniel stretched his arms out wide and took in a deep breath. He let himself become completely calm and relaxed. More and more he was removed from his mind and into his surroundings. He was completely removed from his task now. His mind and body was completely controlled by his own will. Suddenly, he leaped gracefully high into the air and plummeted down the waterfall of his cave. It was a lengthy drop. He slid into the water like an arrow and then swam back up to the surface.
Daniel then climbed the moss that grew on the side of his cave back up to the ledge where his living quarters were located. He looked out the large entrance in front of the waterfall across the vastness of Mossflower Wood. The hill that housed his cave was inside the fringes of the forest and Daniel had a very good vantage point. There seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary.

How beautiful was this autumn day? The sky was power blue with wisps of thin, puffy clouds was sprinkled about, constantly being chased by the chilly, buffeting breeze. In the season of fall, the leaves had shed their lush, green color and brought forth a coat of bright orange and yellow or russet red and brown. The nippy wind lifted the crunchy, wrinkled leaves off the ground and spun it in the air. Squiggling through Mossflower Woods was a chuckling stream, known as River Moss. The clear crystal blue water ran from Mossflower's east and exited out the west. Loose pebbles were jostled among the rushing river, clanking against the edge.
Humming a merry tune to herself, a tiny mousemaid ambled along the bank of River Moss, a straw basket in her right paw, jiggling back and forth. What was contained in the basket was a mystery, for a thin piece of rose-red cloth covered the opening. In her left paw was a half-eaten scone she was daintily nibbling on. Today, she was clad in a clean creamy rose smock, with the exception of the bottom edge, where it faded into traces of dirt and dust where she dragged along the ground, with a thin blanket over her back. Trystal continued her walk, kicking pebbles along, careful to stay as far away from the riverside as possible.
The mousemaid stopped briefly to take count of what she had gathered. She shrugged the cloth aside to reveal a basket filled with plants and herbs. "Mint... burdock... basil... sage... dock... hehe. That was a hard one. Er... comfrey... rosemary... and fennel. Now I just need th—" A sudden whip of frosty wind lashed at Trystal's face. With a gasp of surprise, she tipped backward, the straw basket slipping from her paw, tumbling toward the riverbank, and splashing with a plop in the river. She groaned out loud with frustration and dismay as the basket, with all of the herbs she was collecting all morning, was carried downstream, bobbing on the water's surface. That was all morn lumbering around Mossflower Woods, searching and searching. Now, wasted.
If only she knew how to swim, she'll dive right in there and fetch that basket. But, she didn't. And besides, it was a chilly day. The water is probably freezing. In frustration, she lashed out at a boulder nearby with her sandals. Trystal immediately regretted her move when her paw made forced contact with the hard, smooth surface. Today, she wasn't feeling like herself.
[ I suppose I'm still feeling idea-less... xP ]

((Very good post, Northie))
Daniel noticed a very small and thin mousemaid hoping around on one foot as she held the other. "What the...?" he thought. Daniel then realized she was in pain. He quickly decided to go and see what was the matter. He leaped high into the air and became like an arrow, gliding into the surface of the chilly water. The coldness, like most things, didn't bother him too much. He swam like a pike to the shore where the maid was.
Daniel climbed out of the water and held his hands out in a sign of peace. "What's the problem, Missy?"

[ Aw, thank you, Dann. -tackleglompie- <3 ]
Still clutching her pain-lancing paw, she didn't hear the otter who dived into the river, with almost no splash, and swam elegantly and swiftly toward her. When Daniel popped out of the river, Trystal jumped with surprise and her paw instantly flew to her chest, where her heart was beating like it wanted to break free. Grimacing as she held her injured footpaw carefully and inspected the throbbing pain, she made a quick and friendly introduction. "Er, erm, hello, there, mister kindly otter sir." Trystal quickly let go of her paw and smiled disarmingly.
"Oh, er, not so much of a problem. It's nothing. I assumed I'll receive a bruise or stubbed paw sometime in my little trip. But, thank you for the concern, mister," she hastily answered, slipping her paw into the sandal, ignoring the pulsing pain. That was a hard rock, and, unluckily, she had a soft paw. She flashed her grin again. Then, remembering her main problem and mistake, she spoke with, yet again, the haste.
"Oh, er, pardon me, mister, but can I ask one favor of you? Erm, 'tis basket I lost in the river. It's carried downstream and... well, I wouldn't fancy taking a dip. Oh, um, pardon me, sir. Silly thing to ask..." Trystal couldn't help but ponder why she was so lost for words as she spoke. Of course, she was a shybeast at times. But she knew she wasn't that quiet. The mousemaid continued to think, even though she knew the answer.
Being in Mossflower had always made her shy away from the world. Mayhaps it had something to do with something in her past? Trystal quickly shrugged the thought away and focused on the otter. He was an otter with a burly and strong build, fit for any action, as she thought of most river otters. The feature that had drawn her in was his glimmering eyes. They were a green color, hued with brown. Together, his eyes created a calm affect. It was strange, but relaxing.
